Barring for few odd let downs in badminton, table tennis and squash, the performance by Indian athletes has been exceptional and what is more, some of the notable contributions in India’s success came from the first time medal winners like Apurvi Chandela, the young shooting sensation who did the country proud by winning a gold medal in women’s shooting in 10m air rifle event in Glasgow. Aged 21, Apurvi was competing in her first CWG and her performance at the highest level has left many speechless. She created a new games record by scoring 206.7 points in final. Currently, India is the 7th ranked team in the medal tally but with all eyes on its shooters, wrestlers and boxers India is hoping to regain the top 5 position!
