Punjabi music has a diverse style of music, ranging from folk and Sufi to classical, notably the Patiala gharana. The notion of the traditional or folk music remains a critical part of Punjab society because it aids in the preservation of long-established customs, while Sufi music includes the singing of Sufi poetry in several genres. In recent years,  Punjabi music has entered mainstream Indian culture, as well as in the UK and U.S. Its inclusion in Bollywood songs and the rise in popularity in Punjabi music in London, which has a sizeable South Asian population, can be attributed to the diaspora of immigrants flocking the UK.
